Joe grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his undergraduate education at Oglethorpe University (B.A., summa cum laude, 1990) while working full time as a police officer in metropolitan Atlanta. He attended law school at The University of Georgia (J.D., cum laude, Law Review, 1993) and after graduating served as an attorney law clerk to the Honorable B. Avant Edenfield, Chief U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Georgia. In 1994, Joe entered private practice in Atlanta. Also in 1994, he was appointed as a part-time Magistrate Judge in Fulton County, which position he continues to hold today. At the time of his appointment, he was the youngest judge to ever have been appointed in Fulton County, Georgia.

Joe brings to his cases an in-depth knowledge of physics, engineering, forensics, dynamics, biomechanics, human factors and accident reconstruction, which knowledge has proven crucial when investigating cases, examining opposing expert witnesses and in devising innovative visual aids for trial. He is a known for thinking outside the box when it comes to case strategy, development and presentation and his work is sought after by other attorneys all over the country. He is on the faculty of the prestigious Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College In Dubois, Wyoming, through which he continues to help develop and teach innovative and cutting edge case development and trial presentation techniques.

Joe’s talents as a lawyer helped him to quickly develop a very strong local and national reputation. His work has been featured in major national media such as the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, Detroit News, and hundreds of local and national television broadcasts. He was honored by his peers in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 by being named to the Georgia Super Lawyers list and featured in Atlanta Magazine.

Joe is licensed in Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and New York and has been retained in cases across the nation.
